Review of the USMCA

We are just a few days away from the start of the joint review of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), scheduled for July 1, 2026—a process that could prove decisive for the future of trade and economic integration in North America.

Given this situation, the Ministry of Economy has expressed its intention to promote mechanisms that would exempt certain products from annual reviews, with the aim of providing greater certainty for investments, strengthening regional supply chains, and protecting the competitiveness of Mexican exports.

The review of the USMCA will be closely monitored by the business communities in all three countries, as its outcomes could influence key issues such as rules of origin, market access, foreign investment, and the development of strategic sectors for the region.
